Customers Reviews 2008-06-12 Altogether a good deal The chips feel fairly good in your hands, but they definitely aren't casino chips. I'm not sure if it's the weight, or the texture, or maybe just the "clink" sound. Definitely not a big deal, though. It's also kind of odd that they have the word "Casino" printed on them, since these are certainly only to be used in a home game. The colors are bright and I really like that the values are printed on the chips. The color scheme is standard fair. It was hard for me to find a reasonably priced set that had values printed on them, so this was an easy buy.
The kit includes some dice, and some chintzy big blind, small blind, kill, and other miscellaneous buttons that you'll probably never use. The "Dealer" button is your standard dealer button, and is much larger than the previously mentioned buttons - easily visible, and heavy enough to hold down your trash card pile at an outdoor game.
The kit also comes with some decks of cards, but you'd do best to give them to your kid brother or throw them away. Do yourself a favor and just buy some Bicycle Pro PokerPeek cards or Bee cards instead.
To put it all together, you're just probably buying this set for the chips. They're good chips, especially good for the price. Keep in mind that the shipment is about 30 lbs; my shipment cost was $18. | 2008-06-05 Great for entry level poker night! Great deal for the price! Less than 1% of the chips had slight scuff marks; each no larger than 2mm diameter. All chips were of equal size, weight, and density. All face labels were correctly adhered and aligned with the white markings on the edge. Very faint sealing crease is visible from the edge of the chip, though does not affect the ease of chip handling or stacking. Chips have a muffled composite sound when stacked against each other. Total of 7 colors, each vibrant and does not rub off on hands or table.
This is a great set for the price. | 2008-03-03 Great Value I was skeptical based on the price but have found this product to be more than I expected. The chips look great, the heft is perfect and over all they do a lot to add to the game, I have used this for two parties so far and everyone enjoyed using them... I would certainly by them again and recommend them to friends and family... | 2007-12-26 Good deal Some clay chips had minor defects however, unless you look closely at those chips its hard to tell a difference. Great deal for the price I paid. The chips play and feel like real casino grade chips. | 2007-12-04 Great Product and an unbelievable Price This is the first review I've bothered to do but I was really surprised by the quality of these chips for the $50 pricetag. First off, don't be put off by the shipping charges like I was at first...these are a lot of chips and the shipping reflects the weight of 1000 chips. The chips came in a really nice, big sturdy aluminum case. The chips came wrapped in plastic in the case in bunches of 50 I guess. The chips are really very nice with a good heft to them. The printing on the chips seems really high quality with excellent clarity. Overall the chips really blew me away, especially at this price. 1000 of these really nice chips & a case for $50 is why I bothered to write this review. I looked all over the internet and I couldn't find anything close to this price. Plus it came with dice, two decks of cards and the other misc stuff. A really great deal! |

What Everybody Ought to Know About Poker Games?! Gambling. First off, I should familiarize you with gambling in general. This term has much in common with such conceptions like money and excitement. Anyway, gambling means "wagering money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods". Gambling is legal in the US, therefore everybody can try one's luck.
It goes without saying that folks spend huge money in their excitement, loose their heads being growing heated. There are a lot of spielings like gambling machines, houses, casinos, horse races, fisticuffs, cock-fightings, card games, etc. And of course it should be singled out the poker both online game and real one.
Poker History. The history of Poker is thought to have evolved over more than ten centuries from various games, all involving the basic principals of ranked card or domino combinations and the use of 'bluffing' to deceive opponents. One popular belief is that a game similar to poker was first invented by the Chinese sometime before 969 A.D, when The Emperor Mu-tsung is reported to have played "domino cards" with his wife on new years Eve.
Egyptians in the 12th & 13th centuries are known to have used a form of playing cards, and in 16th century Persia "Ganjifa" or "Treasure Cards" were used for a variety of betting games. A Ganjifa deck consisted of 96 elaborate cards, often made of paper thin slices of ivory or precious wood. The Persians played "As Nas" which utilized 25 cards, rounds of betting and hierarchical hand rankings.
A French game named "Poque" and a German game named "Pochen" became very popular in the 17 & 18th centuries, both developed from the 16th century Spanish game called “Primero” which involved three cards being dealt to each player. Bluffing, or betting high stakes whilst holding poor cards to deceive opponents, was an integral part of the game. Primero dates back to 1526 and is often referred to as "poker's mother" as it is the first confirmed version of a game directly related to modern day poker.
What is it? Poker is a popular type of card game in which players gamble on the superior value of the card combination ("hand") in their possession, by placing a bet into a central pot. The winner is the one who holds the hand with the highest value according to an established hand rankings hierarchy, or otherwise the player who remains "in the hand" after all others have folded (the player who makes an un-called bet.).
By the way, poker as a card game has many available varieties as follows:
Video poker is a single-player computer game that operates like a slot machine. The concept of video poker is very simple. Players usually play one or more hands of 5 card draw poker on a machine and if you draw what is considered a winning hand - you win!
Online poker game is currently around on the web due to various online casinos and poker rooms which gather people from all over the world to play games like poker, blackjack, roulette, slots, etc. Talking about variants, hands may be formed using cards which are concealed from others, or from a combination of concealed cards and community cards. Just take a room and play a game.
